I first discovered Noah Kagan back in 2012/2013, when I was getting ready to leave the Army to embark on my writing and entrepreneurial pursuits.

I was starting from complete scratch and I had no idea where I was "going" with any of it...but I felt compelled to try; that if I didn't try now, I never would.

So I gave up my Captain's rank, the guaranteed paycheck, and all the medals and awards and privileges that go along with it to draw my own map and chart my own course.

Risky, I know...

...but at that time, by reading Noah's blog and emails -- along with binging stuff by Seth Godin, Leo Babauta, Chris Guillebeau, John Lee Dumas, Scott Dinsmore (RIP), among others -- it just felt like "I can do this."

...And if I fail, I fail, and I can move on and get a real job (boy would my parents love that!).

So I got started.

It was slow. It was uncomfortable. At times it felt like I was failing (or on the brink of failure).

Many, many times I wanted to quit...

...but then a deal would close, or a contract would come through, or an idea would land, and I'd be back in the saddle.

And little by little, things grew. From just me, to an assistant, to a team...from one little project to another, and eventually to a growing and profitable business (and then a couple), serving 100,000+ customers around the world.

I still feel like I'm making it up as I go along, and I have "many more miles to go before I sleep," but with great mentors (even from afar, from a book or blog or podcast), the path is made a bit more clear and the journey a bit less scary.

So I say all that to say this:

Thanks, Noah, for all the great insights and teachings over the year. Your book Million Dollar Weekend is a gem and a great reminder that entrepreneurship can be fun and simple.

(and I still have those 'noah's jerky' emails saved in my inbox...and I'm thrilled to see that story make it into the book!)
