Today is my last day at The Post. It was meaningful to work on this idea because I am both an athlete and a business leader. I came to The Post to add value and to make an impact - on my teammates and for the Members.

While I don’t have total clarity on what's next, I do know the culture I am craving and the kind of team I want to be a part of. As a competitor, I know I want to feel challenged all the while adding value and making an impact.

I am open minded to all opportunities and I am reaching out to my network now to help me think big, think differently, and share with me opportunities you know about.

As I look forward, I remind myself of these guiding principles, which are the most valuable lessons I’ve collected since my playing days at the University of Maryland women's lacrosse, from my experiences at Under Armour and Super Coffee, and through my incredible relationship with Matt Hanna raising three great kids.

  1. WHO YOU CHOOSE TO SURROUND YOURSELF WITH MATTERS. This decision influences your habits, your perspective, and your life. I surround myself with doers, with big thinkers, challengers, problem solvers. I surround myself with people who bring out the best in others, with people who are accountable to themselves and to their teammates.

  2. DISCIPLINE + CONSISTENCY = EXCELLENCE - For me, discipline is the strongest form of self-love. Consistency in your discipline is what sets you apart. Healthy habits stack up and lead to a life of excellence. Excellence isn’t perfection, excellence is about effort and work-ethic, all of this is in your control.

  3. CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL - Focus on the things that you can affect. You control your effort, your choices, your habits, your attitude, and your reactions. You can’t control others - not their choices, their feelings, their habits, their attitudes, or their reactions.

  4. SPRINT THE HILLS - Choose progress over comfort; learn to be your best when you are at your worst. Win or lose, I will always walk off a field knowing I put everything I had into it. That is something no one can deny me. The more you put into life, the more you get out of it.

  5. PREPARATION BREEDS CONFIDENCE. Take the time to prepare. Put yourself in the best position possible to succeed by putting in the work ahead of time. Preparation will allow you to handle any situation with poise. Composure under pressure is what sport is all about.

  6. WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, KICK THE NEXT ONE OPEN. Always be ready. Get on the line, get in the game, mark the best player, take risks, go for the interception. Whatever you do, put it all on the line.

I feel lucky. For this opportunity, and all the others in my life that have provided me with the skills, relationships, and experience to face this moment ready and with eyes wide open.

Collaboration is a strength and a skill that directly correlates to my playing days. We are in it together - we work through the hard stuff together and we are celebrating the wins together. There is a trust that is built when you are truly collaborating, sharing and operating as a team. Accountability is assumed in a team environment - we know the end goal, we know what we need to do collectively and we know how we need to individually contribute. There's no micromanaging and there is no option not to do your part.

As we continue to grow The Post it is clear that business is a team sport. I am grateful to be surrounded by so many incredible athletes who have turned into some of the best business leaders in their industries. They force me to be curious, they push me to think differently, they challenge me in ways to show up and strive to be better.
