Traci Gillig

Assistant Professor of Communication at Washington State University

Traci Gillig is an Assistant Professor at Washington State University's Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, specializing in the psychological and social factors impacting youth well-being.

Her research focuses on interventions, media representations, and relationships affecting youth health, as well as the impact of mediated representations of marginalized groups on audience attitudes.

Traci's projects have been published in respected journals like Sex Roles, International Journal of Communication, Psychological Inquiry, and Human Communication Research, and featured in major media outlets like the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and Washington Post.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Communication from the University of Southern California, an MA in Health Communication from Purdue University, and a BA with Honors in Communication from Purdue University.

Traci has a diverse professional background, having worked in various roles including as a Patient Advocate at MDVIP, Senior Account Executive at Edelman, and Health Communication Specialist at the FDA.

Her experience also includes positions such as Brand Corporate Affairs Intern at AstraZeneca, Graduate Lecturer at Purdue University, and Digital Health Marketing Intern at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Before her academic career, Traci held roles like Sales and Marketing Intern at State Farm, Reporter for Olympic News Service during the 2008 Olympic Games, and Editor at The Exponent, the Daily Independent Student Newspaper of Purdue University.
