I haven’t been on LinkedIn for the past month.

And it wasn’t because I didn’t want to be.

Rather, I was forced to take a break due to unforeseen circumstances.

Because nearly one month ago, I was faced with a health crisis.

Out of nowhere, I lost most of the vision in my left eye. I was scared out of my mind.

A diagnosis of a detached retina required immediate surgery and a week of strict recovery, which included lying face down for 45 minutes every hour.

As you can imagine, it was a tough week—canceling plans, missing a workshop I was set to co-lead, and facing the uncertainty of my vision's return.

To say I felt blue would be an understatement.

But when my coach asked me the following question, my perspective shifted almost immediately:

"What are the gifts in this situation?"

After some reflection, I realized there were an abundance of gifts:

🎁 A break from screens and social media.  🎁 Slowing down and reducing pressure on myself.  🎁 Time for deep reflection and future planning.  🎁 The support and understanding from my amazing clients.  🎁 Constant reminders of how much so many people in my life care about me (special shout-out to my husband!).

I’ve learned to appreciate this unexpected gift of slowing down. Sometimes, life forces us to take a break, and when it does, there’s value in embracing it.

P.S. I’m still recovering, and continue to limit my screen time. However, I'm excited to report that I'm back to seeing clients, albeit makeup-free! If I look a bit more “natural” these days, let’s just say I’m on-trend! 😂

What gifts are available to you by taking a break from the norm? Comment below! 👇

I like to think of myself as relatively fit.

I work out regularly, enjoy long walks, and can't resist the dance floor.

So, when my friend Susan recently invited me for a hike, I thought, "Sure, I can handle this!"

But that hike turned out to be way more challenging than I expected.

I found myself out of breath and needing frequent breaks. I couldn't believe how tough it was, and I almost gave up.

My inner critic was loud, making me doubt my abilities.

Then I remembered all the times I've faced challenges:

↳ When I first started running and could barely manage half a mile  ↳ When I became a mom with no guidebook  ↳ When I left corporate life to become a coach

Each time, perseverance paid off, and I grew stronger.

And with that in mind, I pushed forward and reached the peak.

The sense of accomplishment and the breathtaking view of the NYC skyline made it all worth it.

Not to mention, the walk back - downhill - and fresh lemonade 🍋 were perfect rewards!

This experience reminded me that hard things take time and effort.

When you feel like giving up, remember your past achievements.

You've done hard things before, and you can do them again.

And sometimes, leaning on a friend, family member, mentor, or coach for support can make all the difference.

A big thank you to Susan for supporting me every step of the way. I'm ready for our next hike when you are!

If you've ever felt like giving up, remember that you've overcome challenges before and can do so again. Let's keep climbing!
