TRH Brian Mulroney

Senior Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright

TRH Brian Mulroney, the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, led the Progressive Conservative Party to a historic electoral victory in 1984.

He was re-elected with a majority government, becoming the first Canadian prime minister in 35 years to win successive majority governments.

Mulroney's government played a significant role in key agreements like the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, NAFTA, and the Canada-U.S. Acid Rain Treaty.

Under his leadership, Canada saw privatizations, low inflation policies, tax reforms, deregulation, and expenditure reduction policies, contributing to the country's economic success.

He negotiated important constitutional amendments like the Meech Lake Accord to address Quebec's concerns.

Mulroney's government also had notable involvement in global issues like the campaign against apartheid and the first Persian Gulf war.

After nearly a decade in office, he returned to Norton Rose Fulbright as a Senior Partner.

Mulroney holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Université Laval and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from St. Francis Xavier University.
