📉 On his first day as a trader at Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers collapsed.

It was 2008, and Arthur Hayes was just 22 years old.

Then he found crypto.

More than a decade later, and the pile-in by big firms like BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Franklin Templeton is starting to make crypto look more and more like the banking world he left behind.

Hayes is a savvy market commentator and always has fresh takes.

He spoke with me about these new entrants and how that's changing the market; why he thinks the US election doesn't matter despite Donald Trump's attempts to court the industry; Federal Reserve Board policy, and more.

(Hayes also spoke about the yen carry trade and Bank of Japan policy, links are in the comments!)

Hoo boy - if you're in crypto, spending time on X lately during this heated US election season has been quite. a. ride. 🤡

It's safe to say that libertarian-leaning crypto folks, for the most part, back Donald Trump for president.

But there's one CEO who's gone full edgelord, taking his Trump fanboy-ism to levels rarely seen in the corporate world.

Ryan Selkis, boss of crypto data firm Messari, posts fiery political rhetoric and vitriol againt naysayers, and even claims that LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman is part of a “shadowy cancellation campaign" against him.

(A Hoffman rep told us that 'Reid has no idea what Selkis is talking about.')

An ex staffer said it's destructive, especially as many in crypto are trying to get the mainstream to take the industry seriously.

And Selkis concedes that some customers have expressed concerns about his online bombast, though he adds that it hasn't affected his business.

What's his deal, anyway?
