I love good examples of memorable customer experiences!

Quick service coffee shops definitely stand out for me. If I think back to the early days of brands like vida e caffè and more recently my experience with Platō Coffee, the frontline staff carry the experience. When you consider that many coffee drinkers are unbearable before they get their coffee hit, frontline staff’s jobs aren’t easy 😅

A few things stand out for me about how these teams deliver a memorable customer experience:

  1. They create little moments of light-hearted personal interaction with customers - at Platō Coffee this morning, it was the banter about my choice of chai instead of coffee and singing happy birthday to another customer when they overheard it was her birthday! 🤗

  2. The staff ‘vibe’ with each other, creating a positive energy that’s infectious and can’t help but make you smile. Team cohesion seems to be the name of the game here! 👊🏾

  3. They stay cool under pressure (the rugby moms of Rondebosch aren’t an easy bunch to deal with 😬)

  4. They get the job done. Well! And they hold each other accountable without ‘airing any dirty laundry’ in front of customers.

Platō Coffee your team at the Rondebosch Cape Town branch are awesome!! 🤩

Canva is really one of my favorite start-up stories! It’s also one of my favorite software brands! And what a success story it is!

Canva is bigger than Figma and Miro and Webflow combined!

They’re generating $2.3 billion in ARR and they’re profitable!

And they continue to grow 60% year over year and it's accelerating!

I really think they get freemium right - they give away jusssssttt enough value to hook you in and give you the flexibility of paying for a subscription or buying assets as needed!
