Tuan Nguyen is a distinguished professor and researcher specializing in osteoporosis, bone health, and predictive medicine. He served as a Senior Principal Fellow and Professor at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research from 1991 to 2021, where he led large-scale clinical research projects on osteoporosis and fracture risk, mentored doctoral students, and published extensively in high-impact journals.12

Currently, he holds multiple academic roles, including Distinguished Professor of Predictive Medicine at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he directs the Centre for Health Technologies and leads the Musculoskeletal Research Lab. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Notre Dame Australia and a Conjoint Professor at UNSW Sydney.13

Nguyen's research focuses on identifying genetic and environmental factors contributing to bone loss and fractures, developing predictive models for fracture risk, and advancing precision medicine through digital health technologies. He has authored over 350 publications in prestigious journals such as The Lancet, BMJ, and Nature Genetics.35

Additionally, Nguyen is deeply involved in improving medical research capacity in Vietnam, having conducted numerous workshops and collaborative studies. He has also established the Bone and Muscle Research Laboratory at Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam.34
