Highlights
This article was inspired by a podcast I heard between Nate Hagens and Dr. Erica Thompson. Having been in business for nearly 30 years, and as a member of various civil society groups, I can attest from my personal experience that the world has not performed anywhere close to the sophisticated models we built and revered, within and across these institutions. They were certainly helpful in structuring our thinking and testing our assumptions, but they were rarely predictive, less explanatory. Nonetheless, we often turned them into orthodoxies. #complexity #biases #models #meaning
I haven't hidden my contempt for the oligarchic/ plutocratic/ "neoliberal" system of capitalism that we have developed over the past 50 years, significantly fueled by the ideas of Hayek and Friedman, and taken on as a cultural and civilizational project by Reagan, Thatcher, and beyond. Inspired by Daniel and his team, I provide a brief synthesis of my views in this short think piece.
