Highlights
Blown away and excited by the wonderful response we had during the 'Accelerating Decarbonization across the Banking Sector in Kenya' with an audience of over 40 Kenyan Bankers last week.
Followed by an welcome keynote by Samuel Tiriongo (PhD), Director of Research and Policy at Kenya Bankers Association, and opening remarks by Karnika Yadav, Partner and Director, Africa, Intellecap, we dove deep into sessions covering:
✅ Just Transition - How banks can transition smoothly to a low carbon economy that leverages the natural strengths of Kenya, without compromising on growth. Referencing the recently launched Kenya Green Finance Taxonomy.
🛠 Crafting and Implementing a Robust ESG Strategy - We all know it needs to be done. But what are the effective ways it can be done? Sharing of best practices, and methods to keep in mind.
🌲 Navigating carbon markets: Role of Banks - How to navigate carbon regulations, understand pricing of different carbon credits, and what are the low hanging fruits for the banking sector to consider.
The sessions were well attended with insightful comments and questions. When keeping time, we received a resounding 'Please Go On!', and went almost an hour over the allocated time to ensure that all major queries were heard and answered.
Many thanks to Roselyne Njino, Sarah Njoroge, Santosh K Singh, Ann Nderi, Elijah Isabu, Juliet Thenya and Vandana Thottoli for your support in organizing and participating in the panel discussions and delivering the impactful sessions.
📊 We look forward to curating such helpful discussions in the future, and welcome any interested banks to connect with us, especially for clarity on areas of climate finance, ESG Strategy and Carbon Markets 🤝 .
