Vadim Butakov is an autonomous driving enthusiast with a highly impressive educational background and extensive experience in the autonomous driving industry.

He pursued his education at the University of Southern California (USC), where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, a Master of Science (MS) in Product Development Engineering, and another MS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Additionally, he studied underwater vehicles and robots at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, showcasing his diverse academic interests and expertise.

Vadim has held key roles in various notable organizations within the autonomous driving sector. He currently serves as an AD SW at Waymo, demonstrating his commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation in the field.

Prior to his current role, Vadim held the position of AD Motion planning and controls lead at BYTON and was the Founder and CTO at Swerve.ai, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership capabilities.

His previous experiences also include serving as an Autonomous Driving Software Lead at Roborace, an Autonomous Driving Engineer at Volkswagen Group of America, Electronics Research Lab, as well as roles at USC Viterbi School of Engineering where he worked as a research and teaching assistant.
