Valentina Vanghi

Postdoctoral Researcher at IBS Center for Climate Physics

Valentina Vanghi is a postdoctoral researcher at the IBS Center for Climate Physics, specializing in metagenomics.2 She holds a BSc in Natural Sciences from Italy, an MSc combining Quaternary Geology, Palaeoclimate, and Palaeoanthropology from Spain, and a PhD in Palaeoclimatology from Australia.1 Prior to her current position, Vanghi worked as a postdoc in Metagenomics in South Korea.1

At the IBS Center for Climate Physics, Vanghi's research focuses on the geochemical characterization of archaeological sediments. Her project aims to build a model that can predict the quantity and quality of sedimentary ancient DNA fragments.1 This work combines her expertise in paleoclimate studies with advanced genetic techniques.

Vanghi joined the Slon lab at Tel Aviv University as a postdoctoral fellow in October 2022.3 Her diverse academic background and experience in various international research settings contribute to her interdisciplinary approach in studying ancient DNA and climate.
