Valerie Craig is the interim Chief Science and Innovation Officer at the National Geographic Society, overseeing impactful programs and grants related to human stories, critical species, the natural world, and a sustainable future. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of California, Davis, and an MEM in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Valerie has held various positions at National Geographic, including Deputy to the EVP and Vice President, Operating Programs, Deputy to the Chief Scientist & VP of Impact Programs, Senior Director of Impact Initiatives, and Senior Manager of Explorer Programs. She has also worked at organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, SeaWeb, and Oceana, gaining experience in environmental conservation and management, project management, and education.
