I am so thrilled for Day 1 at AfroTech! 😍 Quoting QueenB, I can't believe I made it!
Thank you Carta and Black at Carta ERG for this chance! I am immensely grateful and words can barely express how I am excited to be part of this for the first time!
Back in 2019, I was the first black female hired in the Carta Rio Office. It's great to see how far we came and I love to see more black faces everyday. However, this is only the beginning and I am sure we can do much more (that's my mission! ✊🏾)!
I wanna say thank you, thank you, thank you to Leslie Stevens, Mari Parisi, Daniel Silverstein, Débora Schmidt, my Rio team, and for those who came before me for always giving me the courage and inspiration I need to move forward. You've been the wind beneath my wings! ❤️
My great friend and former manager Patrícia Vargas once told me "I know it's hard, but don't worry, you're opening a path and a creating a legacy for those who come after you". I never forgot that and it keeps me going!
Let's rock this AfroTech 1st day! Yay!

Today in Brazil, we lost one of our greatest icons, the journalist Glória Maria, who was the first black woman to ever appear in Brazilian TV, a historically white-male-dominated environment. Glória became an amazing journalist who had the chance to cover the most important moments of Brazil and of the world. Throughout her career, she became a strong voice against racism and an inspiration for generations of black people who could see her image and dream of a more equitable future. Her legacy will forever be remembered! Rest in peace, Gloria! We will always love you!
