3 years ago, my dear college friend, Sophie (Malekin) Astrum, asked if I had ever thought about writing a children’s book about trees to go along with our annual free tree giveaway.
The thought had definitely crossed my mind, but I didn’t think I had the motivation, inspiration, or bandwidth to make it happen.
Sophie gently nudged me to write a few words down and she offered to make some sketches.
Well, after many iterations, delays, rework, editing, ruminating, and nit-picking, I am happy to say that Sophie and I have published this lovely children’s book about nurturing a seed and growing a movement.
“Our Neighborhood Forest” is printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper and each purchase funds a free tree for a child in our program.
It is now available on Amazon and we have already sold 700+ copies to families, libraries, and schools all across North America.
