Highlights
Over the last 4 years of leading corporate strategy at T-Mobile, my team has worked on countless projects and potential acquisitions. Many of these remain confidential or result in the prudent decision NOT to proceed. Thus it is exciting when we can celebrate not just one, but two significant deals that my team was critical in that our CEO, Mike Sievert and leadership team, discussed in our earnings call last week.
First, T-Mobile announced FCC approval of the acquisition of Mint and Ultra Mobile, the leading digital-first pre-paid mobile brand created by Ryan Reynolds. We love the customer centric digital product and unconvential branding.
The second was the creation of a new JV with EQT to acquire and scale Lumos, a rapidly growing fiber to the home (FTTH) provider which will enable T-Mobile to offer customers yet another way to get connected to their world beyond our leading fixed wireless product.
Thank you to my current and former strategy team member (Kyla Bachtell, Ty Kjellesvik, Drew Bixby, Kapil Sharma, Matthew Gallanty, Abraham Curry, Lucas Rooney, Peter Ewens) for all the hard work from initial concept and logic, building leadership conviction, valuation, synergies, gaining board approval, etc.
Welcome to Team Magenta - Mint and Lumos! And we won't stop!
Congratulations to the REI Co-op team on scoring the highest on the recommerce index for the continued evolution of the used gear experience!
Starting that program still is one my most fun work experiences as it simultaneously solved a business challenge (used product returns), created customer/member benefits, brought new customers into the REI ecosystem, and delivered significant sustainability benefits.
I look forward to seeing where this goes next!
