Rail Management System (RMS) goes live!!!

It is a well-known fact that rail freight is a cheaper mode of transport than road for bulk commodities. Coal, steel, cement, iron ore, fertilizers, and petroleum oil and lubricants (POL) make up most of the movement for Indian Railways. This is advantageous for the transportation of these materials in large quantities over long distances.

However, the distance covered by freight trains in India is relatively low, at around 100 km per day, due to passenger trains getting priority. This can be a significant challenge for timely delivery of goods.

Visibility is another issue. Consignors and consignees currently track their freight using the Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) which is not user friendly. To address this challenge, Instavans has leveraged the NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS) Ulip APIs and other technologies to improve the way rail freight is handled, including end-customer tracking of rail-road hub and spoke deliveries. This allows large shippers to have an integrated road-rail-sea approach to their shipping.

Instavans also offers algorithmic load allocation tools that can automate mode decision making based on cost-service scenarios. This can help optimize the transportation process and reduce costs for shippers.
