"How does one get promoted in this company?" is a very important question.
Let me explain:
Why do so many leaders fail? Why do good teams sometimes fail?
Why do big corporations decline despite many strengths?
The answer may lie in the invisible, yet all-powerful force called CULTURE.
Imagine that strategy is represented by an arrow. The arrow is expected to hit the target (business targets). The culture is the bow.
The quality and strength of the bow will decide whether the arrow will travel with the right speed, right force, and right direction, determining whether it will hit the target or fail miserably.
What the bow does to the arrow is exactly what culture does to strategy.
Culture is not what is often said in a company’s policy statements or leadership guidelines.
Instead, the real culture is defined by the actions and behaviors of senior leaders. And the question “How does one get promoted in this company?” is a great way to unlock and understand the true culture of a company.
If you want your team and organization to succeed, don’t overlook these critical questions: Which actions and behaviors are we rewarding? In other words, how does one get promoted here?
Next time you face significant business challenges, don’t rush to change the strategy. Take a deep breath and ask: Is culture the real culprit?
The best and strongest arrow will not go far with a weak bow.

⁉ A question for you: Does the culture of your team and your organization set you up success? What would you do differently if you were the boss?

Most of us want to make a difference and make this world a better place—for ourselves, for our children, and for future generations.
We are aware of various challenges—be it climate, conflicts, poverty, or injustice. We are good-hearted people who want to address these challenges.
However, we also lead busy lives with numerous demands on our time. Sometimes, we feel powerless and unknowingly abandon our potential to effect change. At other times, it seems that one person’s actions are no match for these vast and insurmountable challenges.
Right? Perhaps not.
OUR ACTIONS, HOWEVER SMALL THEYMAYSEEM AT FIRST, MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Each small act sets in motion a powerful force that will, slowly but surely, snowball into substantial change—a change that will bring smiles to many faces, and better lives for many more…and then again, many more.
And one day, perhaps unbeknownst to us, by creating a virtuous circle, we will have transformed the world and made it work for everyone.
As a very small act, I have attached a booklet which provides a practical list of daily actions that are easy to undertake.
Please glance through the attached booklet—it will only take a few minutes. Show it your family and friends.
Please keep it handy and use these reminders to transform our world for the better…for everyone, one small step at a time.
Here's a question that I ask myself daily: “Am I doing my bit?”
