Wale Shonibare is a seasoned professional with nearly thirty years of experience in the fields of finance, policy, and regulations, currently serving as the Director responsible for Energy Financial Solutions, Policy and Regulations at the African Development Bank.

With a background that spans across Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Wale plays a pivotal role in overseeing a team of Investment officers focused on structuring various financial products like equity, debt, guarantees, and capital markets solutions to facilitate both public and private sector investments in the Energy sector within Africa.

On the policy and regulation front, Wale leads a team of economists, statisticians, and policy specialists, collaborating with governments to establish conducive environments that promote private sector engagement in the energy industry.

Wale Shonibare holds an MBA in Finance from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow.

His extensive professional journey includes roles such as being a Former Advisory Board Member at Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund, Former Non-Executive Director at African Guarantee Fund, and Former Advisory Board Member at Inspired Evolution Investment Management (Pty) Ltd, among others.

Prior to his current position at the African Development Bank, Wale has held key positions such as Managing Director/CEO at Shonibare Consulting, Director at KPMG Corporate Finance, and Vice President at Long Term Credit Bank of Japan (LTCB), showcasing his diverse expertise and leadership in various settings.
