During his tenure, he held leadership roles in Abraaj’s Egyptian operations and was a vital member of the MENA investment team. Under his guidance, the firm managed an impressive investment portfolio in Egypt, combining over USD 600 million in assets. One of his most noteworthy achievements was his pivotal role in the investment and structuring of Cleopatra Hospital Co., Egypt’s largest hospital group, where he led the successful listing on the Egyptian Stock Exchange in 2016.
Before his significant stint with the Abraaj Group, Walid was a director at Riyada Ventures, a boutique regional investment bank, and served as Managing Director of the Technology Development Fund (TDF), which proudly holds the title of Egypt’s first venture capital fund. He ignited his career at AT&T in Kuwait and later went on to establish and manage several technology companies across France and the US.

He currently holds the position of Independent Director and heads the Audit Committee at the Alexandria New Medical Center, Egypt’s largest independent hospital.
