The lifetime cost to society, the environment and the economy of plastic produced in 2019 alone has been revealed at US$3.7 trillion. Unless action is taken, this could grow to US$7.1 for plastic produced in 2040.

A new report by Dalberg Advisors commissioned by WWF: “Plastics: The cost to society, environment and the economy” demonstrates that governments and citizens are unknowingly subsidizing a plastic system that is imposing countless negative impacts on people and the environment.

WWF is calling on governments to start the negotiation of a legally binding global treaty on marine plastic pollution at the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly in February 2022.

Earth's biodiversity is disappearing at an unprecedented rate endangering human lives and livelihoods. WWF's latest report, developed in collaboration with Dalberg Advisors, highlights what we can do now to safeguard our future.

The report details the risks to our economies, food security and health from biodiversity loss, and shows that alternative models of producing and consuming are entirely feasible. 🌍🌳🌴

We're now calling on the stakeholders of the #post2020 global biodiversity framework to adopt a 2030 milestone to halve the footprint 👣 of production and consumption. #TheRaceIsOn to be #NaturePositive by 2030. #COP15 for biodiversity.
