Highlights
Our team at Rise Light & Power was honored to welcome U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Congressmember Nydia Velázquez to Ravenswood Generating Station in Queens, where we are advancing plans to replace 1.8 gigawatts of fossil fuel generators with renewable energy. The visit allowed our union workforce and neighbors from NYCHA Queensbridge, Ravenswood, and Woodside to share their experience personally with one of President Biden's top advisors on climate and environmental justice. We are tremendously proud of the work we are doing and hope to set an example for how other facilities like ours can create their own just transitions to renewables.
Update on an absurd quest: I finished cycling every block in Brooklyn this weekend! Racking up 1600+ unique miles took a little over a year and was a great chance to fall back in love with NYC despite the various post-pandemic headwinds. Needless to say, there were plenty of surprising moments – I'm looking for a creative way to tell the story if you have any ideas.
