Will Bachman

My mission is to help independent professionals thrive. What's yours?

Will Bachman is a business professional whose career has been strongly influenced by the importance of collaboration, as instilled in him by an episode of 'The Paper Chase' at a young age. With a background in nuclear engineering and a physics degree from Harvard University, Bachman further pursued his education by obtaining an MBA in Management from Columbia Business School.

Prior to his consulting career, Bachman served as a nuclear-trained submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was honored with three Navy Achievement Medals. Bachman is currently the leader of Umbrex, a global community that brings together top-tier independent management consultants, with a significant percentage of its members being alumni of leading consulting firms such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, and Booz.

Through Umbrex, Bachman focuses on fostering collaboration, enabling consultants to share knowledge, build relationships, and collectively work on projects. His business model revolves around helping clients connect with independent consultants possessing the specific skills needed for their projects.

Apart from his professional endeavors, Bachman is also known for hosting two podcasts: 'Unleashed – How to Thrive as an Independent Professional,' which has aired over 500 episodes, and 'The 92 Report,' where he aims to interview every member of the Harvard-Radcliffe Class of 1992 over a 30-year period.

Outside of work, Bachman's interests span across different areas. He has walked 800 km on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and together with his wife, owns a 200-acre farm in central Pennsylvania where they engage in beekeeping, orchard tending, and raising various animals including hogs, poultry, and grass-finished cattle.
