Highlights
In the post-COVID-19 global economy, small nations have a unique opportunity to leverage decentralized talent and quality-of-life appeals to increase their footprint in the worlds of finance and entrepreneurship. In a recent blog, Palladium: Make It Possible's Aubrey Hruby and I detail the world of growth capital for small economies, and the work being done though the USAID's Kenya Investment Mechanism (KIM) to pool funds to jointly invest in alternative assets and #infrastructure projects.
Due to an organizational restructuring, today is my last day at Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. It’s been an exciting 2-year journey with our fantastic team and partners to translate our ambitious strategy to support Malawi and its smallholder farmers identify new opportunities for economic growth and prosperity. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked with and learned from a mix of leaders who understand Malawi and global best practice in fields like data science, policy, investment, education, and agricultural technology.
Among the personal highlights of our work in Malawi was the 2019 AgTech Challenge organized by the Centre for Agricultural Transformation. The dynamism of Malawi’s youth was so exciting to see as they moved through a fast moving process to conceptualize and prototype technologies for the groundnut sector (see photos below). Can’t wait to see how these young inventors change Malawi!
What’s next for me? I’m #opentowork and looking for opportunities with companies or organizations that commercialize new technologies in emerging markets, focus on economic growth, or have a unique challenge where I can apply my skills in analysis, management, and business development. Please reach out if you see something or just want to catch up!
