Highlights
To my NU connections: Myself and fellow husky Abbie Sedillos have founded the LANG Initiative (Language Accessibility of Northeastern COVID-19 Guidelines)– a coalition of students and faculty organized with the goal of translating vital resources into all major languages spoken on campus.
With the incredible guidance of our Lead Faculty Advisor, Professor Hua Dong, we aim for language accessibility of Northeastern’s health and emergency resources for international students, bilingual students, and their family members who speak or understand little to no English. Everyone should have the full ability to follow Northeastern’s reopening rules, understand COVID-19, and immigration guidelines during this uncertain time.
In response, working groups of faculty and students are being created to translate these resources into their respective languages. Students will work in teams as translators, while faculty advisors will serve as editors and mentors.
With the current state of our nation, this project is more important than ever. If you are interested in volunteering with the LANG Initiative, please fill out this form: bit.ly/2YWh7sp
