Sustainability in Healthcare Monday— happy #EarthDay!🕺🏥🌏☁️
Great to catch this panel with a few of Singapore’s healthcare system leaders at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital this morning.
Terrific moderation and climate leadership by Wei Hui KEE, MBA, MArch 🎤
Promising interventions from Mr Darion Chong, Mr Ng Kian Swan, Prof Benjamin Horton and Mr Tai Kiat TAN. So many initiatives to keep track of. So many ideas. Let’s be laser focused on achieving our emissions target. 🎯
Prof Horton concluded by saying “it has to be fun” and I can’t agree more. This stuff is fun! That’s why I do this every day with the Centre for Sustainable Medicine. It’s great to work with progressive counterparts.
Thank you to MOHH and the three clusters for this interesting panel. And to NTFGH for hosting!

Yesterday I hosted a workshop on decarbonizing healthcare at #PHAM2024 with the Centre for Sustainable Medicine for the Ministry Of Health, Malaysia (KKM). 🏥 🌏 It was a blast!
My very good friend Courtney Howard (so nice to have you here!) opened with a talk on 🎯 targeted changemaking— which I think is so key into channeling climate anxiety into decarbonization deliverables— and then Amanda Zain (my favorite pediatrician obsessed with reducing the climate impacts of asthma inhalers 🫁) shared what she knows on shifting from MDIs (metered-dose inhalers) to DPIs (dry powder inhalers). Shiwei Ooi also shared her experience as a doctor and climate activist. 🙌🏻
I was quite inspired to hear the ideas that our colleagues at the Malaysia MOH came up with when it came to forecasting and planning to the implementation of healthcare decarbonization solutions. 🏥 🌏 We can do this— but there is a lot of work ahead.
Big big thanks to Jit and Nazia for the massive organizing efforts, Donna for keeping us on track, and obviously last but not least Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood for your leadership in pulling together this terrific event— and your fabulous hosting abilities! 🙏🏻 Thank you for the great day!
