William McGeveran

William McGeveran is a renowned expert in data privacy and security, intellectual property, internet regulation, civil procedure, legislation, and election law. He authored the casebook 'Privacy and Data Security Law' and holds a CIPP/US certification from the IAPP. With a J.D. from New York University School of Law, he is currently the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Julius E. Davis Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School. William has a vast educational background, including a B.A. in Political Science from Carleton College and studies at the University of Oxford and Regis High School. He has diverse professional experience, having served as a Resident Research Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, an Associate at Foley Hoag LLP, and a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Sandra Lynch, U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit. Moreover, William has a political background, having been a Senior Legislative Assistant for Rep. Charles Schumer and a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Louise Slaughter. He teaches courses in Data Privacy and Security, Trademarks, Civil Procedure, and Law in Practice, while also conducting Continuing Legal Education sessions in these areas.
