BMG Makes Broadcasting History: Pioneering the First Ever National Awards Show in a Completely Virtual Environment
In July 2021, Broadcast Management Group, Inc. and the National Television Arts & Sciences joined forces to achieve a historic milestone in broadcasting with the 48th Annual Daytime Emmys.
BMG produced two live Daytime Emmy Award shows, beginning with Children's Programming & Animation, shot on a fully virtual set designed by our BMG Design Team. The second show, Fiction & Lifestyles, was a hybrid production featuring both a traditional hard set and a virtual set.
Using our state-of-the-art Cloud Control Center™ in Las Vegas and multi-camera REMI field packages, BMG managed over 100 remote feeds per show from locations worldwide. We seamlessly integrated audio and video transmissions between the green-screen sets and hard sets in Burbank, CA, and our hub in Las Vegas, NV.
This pioneering effort not only demonstrated our technical prowess but also set a new standard for virtual event production. The Importance of Having a Mentor in Business: A Tribute to Randolph Reynolds Sr.
As I reflect on my career, I am reminded of the incredible impact my mentors have had on my professional journey. Recently, I lost one of my most influential mentors, Randolph Reynolds Sr. His passing has given me a moment to pause and appreciate the value of mentorship in business.
Mr. Reynolds was more than just a mentor; he was a beacon of wisdom and leadership. With a remarkable career at Reynolds Metals Company, he started in sales in 1969 and quickly ascended the ranks. By 1981, he was the CEO and continued to serve on the Board of Directors, guiding the company through numerous global ventures. After retiring in 2000, he continued to lead in the business world, notably in the Alumina Company of Guinea and later in the Reynolds Development Company.
He was not just an accomplished businessman, but a generous man who provided invaluable guidance. Despite his hectic schedule, he always made time to share his knowledge, which is a testament to his character and dedication. He taught me critical skills such as negotiation, leadership, and the importance of understanding different cultures. His ability to multitask and compartmentalize responsibilities was something I deeply admired and aspired to emulate.
Having a mentor in business is crucial. Identifying a few individuals you respect and admire to learn from their successes and, more importantly, their failures is extremely beneficial. Mentors can help you avoid pitfalls and provide wisdom that is often hard-earned. Mr. Reynolds traveled extensively, balancing enormous responsibilities, yet he remained approachable and willing to share his experiences. His teachings have left a lasting imprint on my career.
For me, Mr. Reynolds exemplified the role of a mentor. His generosity in sharing his insights and his entrepreneurial spirit were truly inspirational. The lessons I learned from him are ones I still reflect on today, even though my career path diverged into broadcasting. His influence taught me values that I apply in my role every day.
I also want to acknowledge my father, my uncle Harry Kraly Sr., and my cousin Harry Kraly Jr. These individuals, alongside Mr. Reynolds, shaped my career with their guidance and support. Their mentorship has been invaluable, and I am eternally grateful for their contributions to my personal and professional growth.
In memory of Randolph Reynolds Sr., let us honor the mentors in our lives by passing on their wisdom and supporting the next generation of leaders.
