Wyatt Komarin

Master of Architecture, Harvard University Graduate School of Design

Wyatt Komarin is one of the founding partners of Primary Development, a New York City-based designer-development firm.13 He currently serves as the Director of Development and Creative Director at the company.24 Komarin, along with Jenny Shen and Steven Meyer, formed Primary after graduating from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.3

Komarin's career in development began while he was still a student at Harvard GSD. He worked on his first acquisition project, which involved subdividing a parcel of land for three single-family townhouses, from his studio desk at school.1 This experience, along with participating in RFP competitions in Boston, laid the foundation for the creation of Primary.

At Primary, Komarin and his partners focus on design-oriented development, primarily working on multifamily, single-family, mixed-income, and affordable housing projects.1 They aim to bring innovative design solutions to challenging urban infill sites, often working in areas that require unique approaches due to zoning restrictions or community needs.1

Prior to founding Primary, Komarin gained experience as a Design + Development Intern at Alloy, a company that has served as an inspiration and mentorship source for Primary's founders.1 Komarin and his partners established Primary in late 2018, committing to full-time work on their vision of design-focused development.1
