Dr. Yan Yao, the Cullen Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, is a highly accomplished individual with a strong background in Materials Science and Engineering.

After obtaining his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Fudan University and his Ph.D. from UCLA, Dr. Yao held positions at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University and Polyera Corporation before joining the University of Houston in 2012.

His research contributions span various areas of science and technology, with a focus on organic batteries, organic photovoltaics, and organic thin-film transistors. Dr. Yao's current interests lie in organic batteries, solid-state batteries, multivalent-ion batteries, and aqueous batteries.

Dr. Yao is a prolific author with 110 peer-reviewed articles, 1 book chapter, and 10 U.S. patents to his name. His work has earned him several accolades including the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award and recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics.

An esteemed Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Senior Member of both the National Academy of Inventors and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Yao continues to make significant contributions to the field of electrical and computer engineering.
