This past weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating the retirement of my dear friend, Jack. It was a joyful gathering, filled with friends and family congratulating him on reaching this significant milestone.

While many of us prepare financially for retirement, it's crucial to remember that there are numerous other aspects of this journey that often go overlooked. These include family dynamics, physical health, mental well-being, loss of purpose, shrinking social connections, feelings of loneliness, and much more.

Shockingly, up to one in three retirees show signs of clinical depression once the initial excitement of golfing and travel fades. With increased time spent watching TV and online, coupled with a lack of mobility and social connections, many struggle to find joy and meaning.

Despite these challenges, it's not all doom and gloom. Many retirees thrive with strong community ties, a sense of purpose, and wellness habits.

The key to a fulfilling retirement is holistic preparation. If you or your loved ones are wondering about your retirement preparedness or well-being, I recommend checking out our retirement assessment tool at www.retirescores.com. It provides clarity, confidence, and connections to help create a joyful retirement journey.

Cheers to Jack! I have no doubt his retirement will be as joyful as the life he’s led, especially as he and his wife continue to practice joy every day!
