Yi-Jian Ngo is a prominent figure in the Seattle startup and investment community. He served as the Managing Director of Alliance of Angels (AoA), one of the largest and most active angel groups in the Pacific Northwest, from 2011 to 2024.13 During his tenure, Ngo significantly expanded AoA's membership from 60 to 180 people and increased the group's annual investment in startups to $4-6 million.1

Under Ngo's leadership, AoA members invested more than $125 million in over 250 startups, with notable exits including companies like DocuSign and Elemental Technologies.1 He also spearheaded the launch of AoA's "Innovation Fund" in 2022, a structured investment vehicle that raised $1.3 million in its initial fund and $1.9 million in its second fund.1

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification, obtained in 20062

As of January 2025, Ngo has stepped down from his role at Alliance of Angels to focus on his family, with Maren Nelson taking over as interim executive director.1
