Yibin Kang
Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University
Yibin Kang is a distinguished cancer researcher and professor at Princeton University. He holds the position of Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Molecular Biology and is a founding member of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Princeton Branch.135 Kang is also an Associate Director of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.35
Born in 1973 in Fujian Province, China, Kang developed an early interest in science.6 He completed his bachelor's degree at Fudan University in Shanghai in 1995, followed by graduate studies at Duke University, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2000.123
Kang's research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis. His work has led to significant discoveries, including:
- Identifying new genes that promote cancer recurrence, metastasis, and treatment resistance123
- Delineating tumor-stromal interactions essential for metastatic growth12

Kang has published over 200 research articles in leading journals such as Science, Cancer Cell, and Nature Medicine.235 He has served in leadership roles, including President of the Metastasis Research Society (2016-2018) and Chair of the AACR Tumor Microenvironment Working Group (2018-2019).235
In addition to his academic work, Kang is a co-founder of two biotech startups, Firebrand Therapeutics and KayoThera, which focus on developing novel cancer therapeutics based on his research.35 Outside of his professional life, Kang is an accomplished marathon runner and triathlete, having completed 15 marathons and an Ironman race.5
