Recently, I have wrapped up an important chapter of my life. I have graduated from the executive MBA program at Vlerick Business School in Belgium! The intense and exciting experience has stretched my horizons and enabled me to acquire a new perspective on life and career. I have discovered my strengths, expanded my network, and gained new skills and confidence.   Here, I would like to acknowledge the people who made this journey possible, and even fun.

  • First, my life partner, Jan Lim, for being understanding and carrying the load at home when I was away for courses; and other family members (child, parents, and in-laws) who were extremely supportive and helped when the going got tough.
  • The individuals who empowered me with their guidance in completing an extremely challenging thesis in innovation strategy: my industrial mentor, Paul De Keyser, who facilitated access to key opinion leaders and valuable contacts through his vast social network; and my academic promotor, Professor Walter Van Dyck - Belgium’s foremost expert on innovation management, who supplied inexhaustible intellectual resources to interrogate a complex, rapidly evolving ecosystem.
  • My colleagues and supervisors at imec, Rocco Stirparo, Elisabeth Marchal, Camila Campos, Paru Deshpande, Chengxun Liu and Lei Zhang, for being encouraging and supportive in various ways.
  • Finally, Vlerick’s faculty and staff for providing an excellent learning platform; also, the focal point of the MBA, my classmates. Working closely with 30 seasoned highfliers from diverse industries and cultural backgrounds have expanded the data sets that I can learn from by 30X! It is a great honour to go through this journey with you. Rashid Aisin, Jef Cambré, Tom Catteeuw, Steven De Coster, Bjorn Delbeecke, Jornt Depreter, Dr. Deepak K. Dubey, Vincent FLON, Mehdi Hajra, Valerie Hemberg, Boling Huang 黄波玲, Tina Huang, Peter Kesteloot, Philippe Miossec, Patrick Banon Mutihinda, Leonardo Núñez van Pinxteren, Femke Oosterlinck, Ben Peinen, Viktor Pokorny, Dimitri SAMOISE, Nicolas Te, Geraldine Tosin, Abhishek Tripathi, Annelies Van Dycke, Thomas Van Eeckhoudt, Pieter Vermeersch, Sara Willems, Noémie Wouters and Yanan (Jessica) Wu.   With the end of this chapter, it is time to look forward to the next steps. Before that, I shall enjoy a long-overdue vacation back in Singapore and take a step back to reflect deeply on the whirlwind experience. Have a great summer!
