Yixuan Wu is a Chinese-born illustrator and artist currently based in New York City. She graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2020 and is now pursuing a master's degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her artistic style draws heavily from the historical legacies of decorative arts in both Asia and the Western world, resulting in highly detailed illustrations that often feature intricate patterns. Wu's work is influenced by Pop Art, allowing her to create both complex and simplified graphic images.12

Wu's artistic mission includes documenting lesser-known historical figures, particularly through her project on "Women’s Script," a Chinese syllabic script used exclusively among women. She aims to blend classical art with modern feminist values, often reinterpreting traditional themes to empower female narratives. For instance, she has transformed the "Damsel in Distress" trope into a depiction of rebellion against patriarchal norms.1

In addition to her illustrative work, Wu emphasizes the importance of respecting artists' copyrights and raising public awareness about the value of creative works. She believes that societal recognition of artistic contributions can foster a more supportive environment for artists.1
