This weekend, I was catching up with a friend who is a senior leader in a well established organization.
One of the challenges he highlighted, that he faces regularly is that his team is happy to execute on new initiatives and processes when suggested, but generally doesn't come up with their own ideas.
So, where do these new ideas come from?
Each step in your journey at work is a stepping stone offering unique experiences and learnings. Learning can come from reading, contextualization of real-life scenarios, drawing parallels from other industries, functions( including your own organization), experiences, seeking feedback, adapting swiftly and taking up new challenges.
At any stage of your career, prioritizing continuous learning over the immediate chase of success is key to long-term growth. Growth happens outside your comfort zone. You can either do the same job year over year or seek new challenges. The latter always is a more painful journey in the beginning but a more rewarding one in the long term.
