Currently a cybersecurity fellow at New America in Washington DC, Dr. Peterson is an Associate Professor at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, specializing in secure systems, applied cryptography, and computer security education.

With a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University and multiple degrees from University of California, Santa Cruz, Dr. Peterson's educational background is extensive.

Dr. Peterson's involvement in shaping national and international drone security standards is notable, serving as the Drone Security Subject Matter Expert for organizations like the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and ASTM International.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Peterson is the Head of Autonomous Systems Security at WhiteFox Defense Technologies, Inc., contributing his expertise to ensure the security of autonomous systems.
