She obtained her MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, a BA (Hons) in History, English Literature, and Spanish from the University of Cape Town, and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Human Rights and Democratisation from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria.

Zerene Haddad has a rich professional history, having served in various impactful roles. She currently holds a position at Chicoa Fish Farm as a Social Impact & Donor Liaison.

Prior to this, she worked as a Humanitarian Policy Advisor for the Syrian Crisis at Handicap International - Humanity & Inclusion, and as the International Fundraising Coordinator at Jesuit Refugee Service Europe (JRS).
