Dr. Ong's research focuses on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms of food intake control and addiction.1 She uses multi-level approaches in rodent models to explore neural circuits, neuropeptide function, gut-brain interaction, and intracellular signaling pathways that contribute to the control of feeding and addictive behaviors.1

Her academic achievements include:

  1. Securing an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship for 2023-2026 to study gut-brain control of cue-induced feeding behaviors.1
  2. Receiving an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) from 2017-2019.1
  3. Publishing numerous research articles in reputable scientific journals, with her work being highly cited in the field.2
