Please join my colleagues and I for a webinar that will be taking place on Tuesday, June 9th, at 7:00 p.m. EST.
The event is focused on dismantling the stigmas around Black Men seeking therapy. Our hope is that this will be enlightening, and inspiring to everyone.
In sync with my previous post it cannot be understated how important self care and mental health is in the professional environment.
This is something I am genuinely passionate about, we will share honest experiences, and there will be resources for help and much more.
The link to the zoom is provided in the PDF/Photo flyer, but I have included it here as well.

Hello,
I hope this finds you well. I understand, “LinkedIn is a space for professionals and professionalism, ” but.
In my opinion, this phrase has become weaponized as a way to devalue and minimize the experiences of BIPOC and URM’s as they express themselves. Most recently on the Murder of #GeorgeFloyd, the protests that have followed, alongside the disproportionate effects of the #Covid19 on communities of color.
I want to be clear, “Professional” phrases are and have been weaponized in this very way for so long. White People, the “Professional” workplace, was designed by you and for you. It was not designed for people of all backgrounds because we were not apart of it. This “professional” environment, often identified as the company “#Culture” is then used to segregate and exclude #BIPOC and #URM’s.
I have found it very interesting that this social environment, which is meant to be the “Professional” social network, is probably the most exclusive and openly racist social network of the many.
STOP disqualifying the emotions and experiences of BIPOC AND URM’s in the name of #Professionalism. It is not unprofessional, you have simply designed professional environments so you can bring your whole self, but we cannot.
Warm Regards, Aaron Selkridge
