Abdul Salam

The author of the books: Internet of Things for Sustainable Community Development and Signals in the Soil.

Dr. Abdul Salam is an accomplished Assistant Professor at Purdue University, specializing in Computer and Information Technology.

With a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Dr. Salam is also the Director of the Environmental Networking Technology Laboratory at Purdue University.

Prior to his tenure at Purdue University, he imparted knowledge at esteemed institutions like Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, and Islamia University, Bahawalpur.

Dr. Abdul Salam served in the Pakistan Army for 9 years, holding various pivotal roles in command, staff, and field positions, including the principal position at the Army Public School and College, Thal Cantonment.

His exceptional contributions have been recognized through accolades such as the ICCCN 2016 Best Student Paper Award, the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute Fellowship, and the 2016–2017 Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Not only is he a distinguished academic, but Dr. Salam is also an accomplished author with two published books to his credit: 'Internet of Things for Sustainable Community Development' and 'Signals in the Soil.'

Dr. Salam has a prolific research portfolio, with over 50 research articles in top-tier journals and international conferences, focusing primarily on areas such as underground soil sensing, wireless communications, digital agriculture, sensor-guided irrigation systems, and vehicular communications.

His remarkable expertise has seen him assume crucial editorial roles, including serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE GRSS Remote Sensing Code Library and as Associate Editor of the Advanced Electromagnetics Journal and Array (Elsevier).

Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Salam has obtained degrees including a B.Sc. and M.S. in Computer Science from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from UET, Taxila, Pakistan, and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the Cyber-Physical Networking Laboratory, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, USA.
