Throughout his career, Al-Muhanna has held various significant roles in prestigious organizations.

He served as the Governor at Electricity & Co generation Regulatory Authority and later as the Vice Governor of Consumers & Service Providers Affairs at the same authority.

Al-Muhanna has also acted as the Chief Executive Officer of Taqnia Energy, showcasing his exceptional leadership skills.

His tenure as an Associate Research Professor at KACST highlights his dedication to research and academia.

Furthermore, he has held key positions including Executive Director in the Materials & Nanotechnology Sector and as a Technical Leader at KACST/IBM Nanotechnology Center of Excellence.

His experience also includes managing roles such as the Manager of the Photonics Technology Center at KACST.

Prior to these roles, Al-Muhanna worked as a Senior Staff Engineer at Bookham Technology and as a Member of the Technical Staff at Agere Systems, formerly Lucent Technologies.
