Dear "Fear", be warned. We come after you :). . Our next podcast episode is out, and man was it amazing! Kamala does not hold back as she takes on how fear has plays a role in education, and dissects it piece by piece. I must say that this is probably the most relatable episode of the series, one that takes you back into your childhood and unlocks the heaviness of being a child which was locked away and forgotten. . Fear is an old weapon wielded by education, sometimes with a stick in the hand, while other times more subtle and sinister, in the little slights and humiliations. Fear even creeps into the beautiful visions of the future, turning them vile and dark possibilities, where only the one who beats the rat races emerges victorious. This relationship is old, and well known, but stocked away in farthest rooms of our mind, lest we remember the normalised feeling of dread. . However, these experiences of fear throughout childhood are not undone simply by locking away the memories. This fear has affected us, and damaged us, and so much that even recognising the damage is difficult. When the wounds are too deep, you simply don't want to look into the mirror. Healing begins with acceptance and acknowledgement. And maybe, the future of new education also begins in accepting and acknowledging the need for "undoing fear" as opposed to chasing the economic realities of tomorrow. . Let me know your thoughts :)

Aha! It's been a FULL TEN YEARS now.

Among the many things that I am proud of, I am most proud that the child inside me remains well preserved. . This picture was just a few months into moving to Banjarapalya. A friend had come in to write the very first article about our little space, that even had no real name. . I had spent years suppressing the child inside me, as we all do, in an effort to grow into a responsible adult. The idea that was sold was that adults finally make a difference to society. They build societies, economies and the future of humanity. A childhood is simply a collection of early years designed to build the ideal adult.

However, when I finally stepped into work after University, I felt that this wasn't entirely true. Most adults do much less shaping of the world, and much more following industrial instruction. And in doing so, unsurprisingly, do not experience any joy or freedom. A childhood thus is an exercise in making us accept that this is how life must be ultimately - devoid of joy and freedom. . In this picture is my rebellion of this narrative. I decided I will not let the curious and playful child choke away, to create space for a mechanised adult whose role is only to make more money for those already rich. I created this space with children, to protect this child in me; to nurture it and to allow it lead a new narrative I wanted to follow.

And this narrative was that I can be who I want to be, do what I want to do, and care for all the people I am surrounded by. I am not some powerless tiny cog in a big machine. I can create a new reality, not only for me, but also for others. . And I can do this, not because I am special or extraordinary. No. This is what any ordinary person can do, if that fearless and playful child does not wither away. . It is my prayer that more and more of us can make this happen, and reject the idea of suppressing their inner child, and instead nurture it. Oh what a wonderful world it would be!
