Adam Aziz

Doctoral Student in Women's and Gender Studies

Adam Aziz, a dedicated graduate student in French Studies with a deep interest in various research areas such as postcolonial/indigenous/black feminisms, Queer of color studies, and sociology of sexual violence and masculinities, is driven by his passion for sociology and cultural studies.

Adam Aziz acquired his education from the University of Mississippi, where he earned degrees in International Studies, French, and Arabic. During his academic journey, he engaged in tutoring French students, lived in Fez, Morocco, and participated in language studies at L'École Française at Middlebury College, Vermont.

Adam Aziz delved into sociological research by exploring the intersection of Arabic and French in modern Algeria during a research trip to Algiers. Subsequently, he conducted ethnographic research in Algeria, Tunisia, and France to investigate emerging women's rights and queer social movements in North Africa.

His academic pursuits led him to The University of Texas at Austin for his Graduate Degree in French and Francophone Studies. Adam Aziz has also been affiliated with various organizations such as being a Teaching Assistant in French, a Doctoral Student in Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University - New Brunswick, and a Julia Walther Fellow in French and Francophone Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.
