Why do I need flexibility as a father?

Over the last 2 years I have gone through mediation, solicitors and eventually Magistrates Court with my ex after she moved my son to the North East of Engalnd.

🥂 Good news, in July, I won! 🍾

Here is my new normal:

Twice a month on a Thursday, I take the 5:48AM train from Kings cross to Newcastle to pick up my son and bring him back to London. A door to door trip of around 8 hours.

💻 In the morning, I can crack on with admin and "desk/think" work over the wifi. 👶🏽 On the train back I have my hands full with Malik. 🛌 After he is in bed, I catch up on what I have missed.

So while I am looking for new projects I want outline ways you can support flexible working:

1️⃣ Uneven weekdays. Earlier starts and late finishes on the days outside Thursday. 2️⃣ No Meeting blocks. Have those two days a month as admin heavy/meeting light days. 3️⃣ Part time hours. Consider offering 4 day work weeks. 4️⃣ Output focused. Concentrate of deliverables and targets instead of time on desk.

🚂 PS he loooooves Trains 🚆

To what extent do you think racism is present in UK society today?

67% of people do not think it is a big part when asked in 2022 by Statia

"If yu cyaan ‘ear, yu mus’ feel/ Those who do not listen must feel" is a Caribbean proverb that comes to mind.

But the people feeling pain are the same people who have been telling you to fix up.

Do not "other" these attackers who tried to set people on fire. They are at your Christmas dinner, they are in your workplace, they are in the group chat.

When you hear them speak with hate and ignorance about immigration, race and diversity next time; how will you challenge them?

Put your "Be Kind", and "Good people on both sides" BS to side. You have the information, you have the pictures.

I will share antiracism resources in the comments.
