Highlights
I'm thrilled to share that I recently had the opportunity to attend the 2023 summer course at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where we delved into the fascinating world of designing impactful Business Models for Sustainability. This course has been indeed a game-changer for me.
It's no secret that our planet is facing numerous environmental challenges, and one significant milestone that serves as a stark reminder of this reality is the Earth Overshoot Day. This year, the Earth Overshoot Day falls on August 2nd. For those unfamiliar, it's the day when humanity's demand for natural resources exceeds what the Earth can regenerate in that year. This alarming trend highlights the urgent need for sustainable practices in all aspects of life, including business.
By leveraging Biotechnology and other cutting-edge technologies, businesses can significantly reduce their ecological footprint and create innovative solutions to address these pressing issues. Sustainable business practices not only benefit the environment but also foster economic growth and social progress.
I strongly believe that the future is dependent on our collective efforts to adopt sustainable business models, and I am committed to contributing my expertise in Biotechnology towards this vision. Together, we can drive positive change and build a world where environmental responsibility and economic prosperity go hand in hand.
Lastly, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Professors Jaime González Masip, PhD and Juan Carlos Sánchez for organizing this transformative course and to Professor Gregorio Martín-de Castro for sharing invaluable insights on the need to direct technological development towards sustainability in this context of climate emergency. My gratitude also goes to Fundación Carolina for their support, enabling me to participate in this enriching experience.

I’m happy to share our latest publication in Nature Communications.
We showed here that antibodies to Giardia lamblia VSPs induce their clustering, activating a mechanism of antibody clearance into microvesicles coupled to the induction of antigenic switching.
This is the first description of an inducible mechanism of antigenic variation in protozoan parasites and change the current paradigm of spontaneous antigenic variation.
