Nature published a well-written piece on targeted radiotherapeutics (TRT) yesterday. My co-founders Anthony Casarez, Li Zibo, and David Nicewicz have designed chemistry that will overcome a number of challenges discussed in this article. We're in stealth mode, but be on the lookout for "TRT 2.0" when we become publicly-facing.

Rejuvenate Bio has now laid off 90% of the 50+ FTE’s that were present in June. I wish the founders and the few remaining employees success in their mission of using gene therapies to address aging-related diseases. I drew many lessons from my time at Rejuvenate, and for these, I am thankful. Had fundraising been successful, I would have enjoyed seeing our re-booted early-stage research programs advance toward preclinical studies. I was proud of the Basic Research Department I renovated, expanded, and led. I urge everyone in my network to consider these superb scientists for any roles to which they apply and to reach out to me for detailed recommendations (listed in no particular order):  Saumil Sethna, PhD, Rokib Hasan, Ph.D., Adrianna Abele, Britta Sibley, Robert Porter, Carolina Cano M., Kyuto Tashiro, Kaden Huff, Jacob Fenster, Wen-Han Chang, and Natalie Johnston

The funding/hiring situation in biotech and biopharma is currently poor, flooding the market with unemployed researchers. The preceding scientists are a cut above the rest. You won’t be disappointed if you give them a chance to prove themselves.

Other recently laid-off colleagues with whom I worked closely are Muralidhar Reddivari (and his entire Process Development Team), Katie (Good) Schmitz, Rejuvenate’s Head of People, Garrett Berry, Head of Business Development, Sophia Gee, Chief of Staff to the CEO, and Randi Mendoza, office administrator extraordinaire. Muralidhar Reddivari accomplished amazing things with a limited budget and built/led a PD team with the finest collaborators I could have imagined. He is a leader and a scientist of the highest integrity, who knows what it takes to make biological therapeutics (an exercise that is more involved than most inexperienced biotech founders realize). Randi Mendoza brought scheduling serenity, paperwork correctness, and general order to Rejuvenate Bio with professionalism, style, and good cheer. She is an efficient and conscientious administrator who will improve any organization she works with. Garrett Berry was an esteemed colleague whose encyclopedic knowledge of gene therapy, coupled with his negotiation skills, was of great help to my team. Sophia Gee is an operational wizard and assisted me in numerous ways. I miss her good sense, professionalism, and appreciation for the art of the possible. Katie (Good) Schmitz is the best HR professional I’ve ever encountered (and I’ve worked with many over the years). She helped me to identify, recruit, and retain a brilliant, cohesive team. I miss the excitement of conspiring with her to recruit our desired candidates and sharing with her the triumphs and the tragedies of startup life. I would jump at a chance to work with Katie (Good) Schmitz again.

I am evaluating an array of next career moves that range from similar to highly divergent from my past experiences. Please reach out if you have ideas/proposals.
