Yesterday, Epic was announced to be implemented provincially wide-across NL Health Services https://lnkd.in/eVdtDZPK. This win solidifies Epic deeper into Canada, with many large systems in Ontario and the entire provinces of Alberta - Alberta Health Services and Quebec. Interestingly, no healthcare systems in British Columbia use Epic.

NL Health Services set a 10-year goal based on 6 facts that were harshly critical of their system https://lnkd.in/eKHk8f89. I applaud them for highlighting the issues bluntly. NL Health believes Epic will help them tackle these big challenges, and it will be interesting to revisit post-go-live to see how their metrics have improved. Many people in healthcare know that technology is as good as the process and culture. Technology could facilitate a better process, but if people refuse to change then it is pointless.

Epic continues to dominate growth in lucrative markets (Canada and U.K.) that traditionally lagged behind in the adoption of Electronic Healthcare Records while still growing in the U.S. Every healthcare software company that has enjoyed being entrenched in a market that largely prefers locally built solutions needs to think about differentiation with EHR's modules. Epic and other EHRs have proven many systems are willing to abandon their own in-house solution for a proven solution on the market. How is your product better than the EHR's module? How will you integrate and improve the EHR's ecosystem? Lastly, what can you learn from Epic's growth in an industry that is largely considered difficult if not impossible to sell.

Real Talk.

Here are 3 ways to stand out in your job interview:

  1. Practice summarizing your accomplishments and injecting your personality within a couple of minutes.
  2. Prepare great questions to ask your interviewer that demonstrate an understanding of the product and business. Basically, demonstrate you did research.
  3. Tell your story well why this company and opportunity interests you.

You'd be surprised how many interviews I've done where candidates have demonstrated all 3.
