Highlights
I had the pleasure of speaking at the Decoding the Future of Women event last week chatting about the future of #wearables and #women’s health. Appreciated Suzaan Sauerman for her incredible panel moderation with WHOOP, ŌURA, ZOE, Flo Health Inc.
Few overall thoughts:
- Wearables can close the research gap, which is super important given how far behind we are in women’s health research and understanding how different conditions affect women.
- Wearables like WHOOP can expedite research, fuel innovation, and ultimately help women unlock more healthy years. This is one of the major parts of working in wearables I love - we can disproportionately advance this space.
- Wearables help women become experts of their own bodies and become strong patient advocates. There's power in understanding your own body.
- Understanding your own baseline and observing deviations is valuable. As an example, at WHOOP we looked at HRV and RHR during pregnancy and noticed some important patterns, which led to us building the Pregnancy and Postpartum feature. I got to use this during my own pregnancy, and it offered invaluable insights about my body.
This whole event was an amazing meeting of minds on women’s health, and there is a lot of important work to still do in this category. Also, I always appreciate any time I get to spend back in London. Thanks to the FemTech Lab for organizing and pushing forward these topics.
