Her career spans over a decade, during which she has led various women's-focused initiatives within religious nonprofit organizations and has been involved in strategic programming at notable institutions, including the Riverside Church in New York.145
Mission and Initiatives
The Current Project was born from Alisha's personal experiences as a single mother, aiming to transform the challenges faced by Black single mothers into opportunities for growth. The organization runs programs like CurrentEconomics, which combines financial education with emotional wellness, enabling participants to save money and reduce debt effectively.235 Alisha's long-term vision includes using data from these programs to influence policy changes that create sustainable pathways for Black mothers to thrive economically.12

Alisha Gordon has been recognized for her contributions to social advocacy and education, being named one of Emory University's Top 40 under 40 in 2019. Her work has garnered attention in various media outlets, highlighting her role as a catalyst for change within marginalized communities.124
